Brahmins are a part of the Hindu community in Maharashtra, India. *Deshastha Rugvedi: Are very ancient and widely distributed. *Deshastha Yajurvedi Brahmins: They have migrated from the banks of Ganges to Godawari. Sant Dnyaneshwar, author of Dnyaneshwari, is a Yajurvedi. Deshastha communities belong to Maharstra, excluding Kokan. *Daivadnya Brahmins: A Hindu Brahmin sub-caste of the west coast of India, predominantly residing in the states of Goa, coastal Karnataka, and coastal Maharashtra. *Samvedi Brahmins: Samvediya Brahmins in Vidharbha are known as Lattyayan or Lad Brahmins. Emperor G.P. Satvahan had brought them to Maharashtra. There are Samvedi Brahmins around Sopara (near Vasai) also. *Chittpawna Brahmins: Are also known as Konkanstha. They have migrated from Sopara to Chiplun (In Ratnaghari District), by sea. Great Peshwas of Pune, Lokmanya Tilak, and Swatantry veer Sawarkar are Chitpawans. *Karhade Brahmins: Migrated from Karnataka to Karhad, and from there to Konkan, Sagar and Indor and all over. Golwalkar Guruji of RSS and renowned scientist Jayant Nararlikar, are Karhades. *Saraswat Brahmins: Are not averse to eating fish. They are mainly in Goa and Konkan. Many well known cricketers, writers, and actors are Saraswats. *Devaurkhe Brahmins: Have migrated to Maharashtra during Vijay Nagar Dynasty. *Kanva Brahmins: were rulers of Maghda for about a century. Nitin Gadkari BJP national president is a Kanva. *Charak Brahmins: are mainly around Nagpur. *Kudaldeshkar Gaud Saraswat Brahmin is a community hailing from the western coast of India, residing in the Konkan division of Maharashtra, Goa .
